Fumoto
Engine Oil Drain Valve
After
I installed my Skid Row Engine Skid
plate on my Jeep, I discovered that changing my oil
became a bit messier to do. The problem is that oil would drain onto
the Skid plate as the flow slowed to a trickle and it's a real pain
to wipe up. While this may not be that big a deal for a lot of you
out there, I wanted to find a way to solve this. That's when I found
the Fumoto Engine Drain
Valve. Affordable and super easy to install, the Fumoto
Valve now allows my oil to drain clear of the Skid plate and requires
no tools to use. Just so it's clear, I wouldn't recommend installing
this valve unless you have a Skid plate to protect it.
What
You Will Need
•
Fumoto
Drain Valve - Part# F101N(w/Nipple)
• 5/8" Wrench or Socket w/Extension
• Ratchet
• Oil Drip Pan
• Oil Filter Wrench
• New Oil Filter
• 6-Qts of Oil
• Newspaper
• Rags
Installation
1.
Because you will need to completely drain your oil pan before installing
this valve, it's a good idea to wait until you need to perform a routine
oil change.
2. Park your Jeep on a level surface and place newspaper
underneath the area of your engine you will be working on.
3. As with any oil change, place a oil drip pan or
bucket underneath your oil pan and then remove the drain bolt using
a 5/8" socket. It's always a good idea to make sure your engine
is warm when doing this.
4. While your oil is draining, go ahead and replace
your oil filter with a new one.
5. With the oil all drained, install your new Fumoto
Valve using a 5/8" wrench. Make sure you have the washer/gasket
that goes between the valve and your oil pan on.
6. Pour 6-Qts of new oil into your engine and clean up.
7. To operate your new Fumoto Valve in the future,
all you need to do is lift up the safety lock and rotate it 90°
as shown in the animation to the left.
8. I chose to buy the optional nipple so that I could
make sure oil would drain past the aperture in my Skid plate If needed,
you can hook up a hose to this nipple and direct your oil to wherever
you want.
That's pretty much it. Super simple and cheap mod. The best part is
that changing my oil is a cinch now. Please let me know if you have
any questions. |
